Silicone oil serves as a calibration medium in baths regulated by temperature. Various kinds of silicone oil are selected for specific temperature ranges, depending on their viscosity at those specific temperatures. These oils exhibit excellent thermal properties and minimal flammability.
The effective range of certain fluids is influenced by atmospheric pressure. The temperatures indicated in the specifications pertain to conditions at sea level.
The flash point refers to the temperature at which a vapor, not the fluid itself, will catch fire when exposed to an open flame. Once the flame is extinguished, the vapor ceases to burn. This is determined using the open cup method.
