Digilent's Genesys ZU, a stand-alone development board based on the Zynq UltraScale+ EG/EV MPSoC, is designed to be an affordable yet powerful gateway with robust multimedia and network connectivity interfaces. It comes in two versions: 3EG and 5EV, each distinguished by the MPSoC chip version and certain peripherals. The 5EV version offers advantages over the 3EG, including faster DDR4, expanded FPGA fabric, a video codec, and GTH transceivers that enable HDMI Source, Sink, and 10G SFP+. Both versions support a variety of multimedia and network interfaces, boasting a great combination of on-board peripherals, upgradeable DDR4, Mini PCIe and microSD slots, as well as multi-camera and high-speed expansion connectors designed to accommodate a wide array of use-cases. The Genesys ZU is mainly aimed at Linux-based applications that enable access to Wi-Fi, cellular radio (WWAN), SSD, USB SuperSpeed, and 4K video. It features two specialized ports, Pmod and high-speed SYZYGY-compliant expansion module ports for our new Zmods, which allow for flexible expansion and easy access to a broad ecosystem of add-on modules, making it perfect for silicon evaluation and rapid prototyping.
The Zynq UltraScale+ 3EG devices are equipped with specialized processing elements necessary for excelling in next-generation wired and 5G wireless infrastructure, cloud computing, AI, and Aerospace and Defense applications. On the other hand, the 5EV devices, designed with high-definition video in mind, are ideal for multimedia, automotive ADAS, surveillance, and other embedded vision applications.
