Digilent's USB-1408FS-Plus is a versatile analog input and digital I/O data acquisition (DAQ) device designed to cater to a wide range of data collection needs. It boasts eight analog input channels, which can be software-configured for either eight 13-bit single-ended inputs or four 14-bit differential inputs, offering flexibility in data collection.
In addition to its analog input capabilities, the device features two 12-bit analog output channels, allowing for precise control of external devices. It also houses 16 digital I/O channels that are independently selectable as input or output in two 8-bit ports, providing a high degree of customization.
The USB-1408FS-Plus is equipped with a 32-bit event counter input for counting TTL pulses, an external digital trigger input, and a bidirectional terminal for external clocking or multi-unit synchronization, making it a comprehensive solution for various data acquisition tasks.
The device is compatible with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports, ensuring it can be used with a wide range of systems. However, the speed of the device may be limited when using a USB 1.1 port due to the difference in transfer rates on the USB 1.1 versions of the protocol (low-speed and full-speed).
One of the key advantages of the USB-1408FS-Plus is its power supply. It is powered by the +5 V USB supply from the computer, eliminating the need for an external power source. This feature enhances its portability and ease of use, making it an ideal choice for various data acquisition applications.
