The DSX-PC6AS adapter is used in patch cord testing to quickly verify whether a patch cord meets industry performance specifications. Patch cord tests evaluate Wire map, Return loss and NEXT (Near-End Crosstalk) characteristics. They can fail because of faulty wiring, poor workmanship, poor quality materials, or damage to the cable or plug.

DSX-PCxx Series of Adapters

The DSX‑PCxx Patch Cord Adapters allow a DSX CableAnalyzer to verify that patch cords meet ANSI/TIA and ISO/IEC requirements. Each adapter uses specially selected RJ45 jacks designed by Fluke Networks for testing Cat 5e and Cat 6 patch cords per TIA‑568‑C.2 and IEC 61935‑2, as well as Cat 6A patch cords according to IEC 61935‑2.

You cannot certify patch cords using the DSX-CHA004 Channel Adapters. You must use:

  • DSX-PC5ES (DSX Patch Cord Test Adapter Set for Category 5e patch cords)
  • DSX-PC6S (DSX Patch Cord Test Adapter Set for Category 6 patch cords)
  • DSX-PC6AS (DSX Patch Cord Test Adapter Set for Category 6A patch cords)

Note: The DSX main and remote testers (DSX-5000) need Versiv software version 2.3 or later to do tests with the DSX-PCxx adapters.
